Over an intense four day period participants will be introduced to the use of play in the theatre-making process and principles of working as an ensemble through exploring the role of the Chorus and the creation of tragi-comic heroes.

The process will culminate in an informal sharing of the work to family and friends.

Running from Tuesday the 28th to Friday the 31st of May, each day will begin at 10am and end at 4pm with a lunch break.. The price for the whole workshop will be £100 payable in advance to secure a place.

The workshop will be open to ages 14 and above. We encourage all levels of experience and ability to apply for this week, though we seek participants with a high level of openness, rigour and willingness to play.

Fools Play Collective are an associate company at the Drama Centre, currently developing a new piece for touring in 2014. Their previous piece “Our Soldier” received critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2012 (★★★★ Fringe Biscuit - Light and dark collide as Macbeth is blended with physical theatre to create a stunning, visual performance) and played to sell out audiences at the Redbridge Drama Centre. (★★★★ A Younger Theatre -fast-paced, witty and visually striking)

Applications should be made to Sally Polden
Sally.polden@redbridge.gov.uk
0208708803

Fee: £100 – payment in advance

http://www.redbridgedramacentre.co.uk/

Here is a rundown of the best of the reviews so far:

★★★★★ Three Weeks “an eye-opening piece of theatre” LINK
★★★★ The Big Issue “a mesmerising study of conflict and heroism” LINK
★★★★ A Younger Theatre “fast-paced, witty and visually striking” LINK
★★★★ Fringe Biscuit “Light and dark collide as Macbeth is blended with physical theatre to create a stunning, visual performance.” LINK

And here is a interview Fools Play Fool Joel Gatehouse had with the Performance Editor of The Skinny, Gareth K Vile about Our Soldier. LINK

Most importantly for us here at the Fools we’ve met so many lovely people that we’ve been able to share our work with and learn from others vast experience.

And finally a massive thank you to all those people who made it possible for us to even be up here. Without your support and encouragement this incredible experience would not have been imaginable!

XXX
